Start with the chemistry

Titanium performs especially well in many oxidizing and chloride-containing environments, while commercially pure nickel is known for strong resistance to caustic alkalis and selected reducing conditions.

Then check fabrication and availability

Pipe, tube, fittings, flanges and plate availability can affect both lead time and total installed cost. Matching all components in the selected material system reduces procurement risk.

Do not choose by metal name alone

Temperature, concentration, contaminants, flow velocity, crevices and galvanic couples can change corrosion behavior. Procurement should follow material recommendations from the project engineer or corrosion specialist.

Build a comparable RFQ

When asking suppliers to quote alternative materials, keep dimensions, standards, quantity, testing and delivery terms consistent so commercial comparisons remain meaningful.
